World Read Aloud Day.

Who knew?
March 3rd is the day.

We all know reading to our kids is one of the best things we can do.
I wonder if my endless mutterings to myself count?

If you happen to be in the San Francisco Bay Area - check out this event:

For the baby - our current read 100 times a day book is: Barnyard Dance.
I do love to skitter with the mice.

The six year old and I are reading The Hundred Dresses.

I am reading The Dive From Clausen's Pier - a bit too heavy for a knackered mommy like me though nicely written but I just finished The Middle Place which was a really good read.

I am a serious bookworm - a habit I wish to instill in the six year old and the baby.
What are you reading?

  1. For the baby it's always Good Night Elmo...it's so lame but each one of my kids has had it and can't go to bed without it. The older boys (4&5) have been big into the How does a Dinosaur books right now. They're loving them.

Personally, I just finished The Help...soooo good and have just started Angry Housewives Eating Bon Bons...like it so far.

    I feel so literate, thanks!

  2. Sadly I'm reading a horrible book by Ludlum. How is this guy even famous? It's like half the book's missing, including the character development, respect for women, and full thought processes. "Apocolypse Watch" Ugh.
Best good read of the past year - "The Time Traveler's Wife"

  3. I hope and pray that my kids are bookworms. Just finished a book that I liked but for life of me can't remember what it was. So it couldn't have been that good.

Now I'm reading the Marian Keyes which I'm having trouble getting into.

The Help was probably one of the best books I read last year.

The kids are obsessed with Star Wars: the complete visual dictionary. Much to my chagrin.

  4. Just finished Barbara Kingsolver's latest "The Lacuna". I love her but was underwhelmed by this one for the most part - the last half of the book should have been the book. The first half set up the character, but she could have easily done it in a short chapter or two.
I have a list I'm going to try and pick up today for our upcoming trip - I'll let you know how they are!
Sweetpea loves the Magic Tree House books right now.
